Hmm. Perhaps Fencesitter. It depends on my mood and perhaps what episode I'm watching.

I'm much more of a shipper nowadays, but I have been a subtexter in the past. There are moments like MHR, in the very last scene where Xena gives Gab that poem that I can't help but deeply sigh at because it's abundantly clear how much they love each other. So I admit the nature of Xena/Gab relationship, the to-die-for bond that we all look for in life that transends gender, age, race and any obstacle is wonderful -- but I also love the intensity/fire/passion/violence/love & hate /lust in the Xena/Ares match. I love the chemistry between Lucy and Kevin, even though they have fewer scenes together than Lucy and Renee, the impact of those few moments they share leads me to classify those episodes as the best ones in the series.

Xena is without doubt my favourite character. Ares and Gabrielle often compete for second place. I loved Xena's dark side and Ares, (who is by the way totally gorgeous ) fully appreciated it. Yet Gabrielle's actions in The Greater Good, or in The Ides of March or A Friend In Need 2 makes me realise how much she loves Xena... and their bond was the reason I was draw to the show in the first place. But not on the basis that they were lovers, which is what subtext is. I guess it depends on what you classify as subtext really. So...

Let's put it this way, when I don't have X/A, i've usually got X/G to keep me happy. So I've got the best of both worlds really
