By the end of season six, Gabrielle was clearly an exceptional fighter, and without question, nearly Xena's equal; however, did Gabrielle ever surpass Xena? In other words, could Gabrielle beat Xena in a fight, no matter what method of combat.

As much as I'm a Gabrielle fan, I admit that I don't think that she could theoretically beat Xena in a fight. But I voted that she would come close, as Xena essentially trained her and she probably learned most of her fighting abilities from observing Xena.

I would say it would be terribly close! Gabrielle knows all of Xenas "moves" and weaknesses having been trained by her for so many years. In saying
that, Xena is Xena and her power to adapt in a fight is partially what makes her so amazing

Much as I ADORE Gabrielle, Xena was just 'supernatural' in any combat situation...so I think it would have been close, but Xena'd win.
Without Gabrielle there would be NO Xena
