Does anyone on here twitter? I twitter a little bit. to be fair i actually have two accounts. one for my film company and one is a private one for me and my
hunnie. saves on money of sending texts to each other during the day. but what do you think about the world we live in with the "instant
gratification?" does anyone feel like the world of writing letters is lost on a generation (or two) just in a pondering mood today and was curious what
you guys thought

The gods are conspiring against me I think. First time I check on TX in way too long and what do I find if not this. No, I do not Twitter but I just realised I
would make an awesome twitterer, possibly. Also strangely enthralled by it. I've been firmly against it for a long long time, but I am crumbling.
So perhaps I should give in and give it a test week to see what it's like.

Nope, don't Twitter and I agree that the are of writing letters (even if it's in email) is fastly disappearing.

but what do you think about the world we live in with the "instant gratification?" Well, I do think Twitter has one thing going for it - IMO, it's great for celebrity-fan communication, simply because it feels like the celebrity is
talking to me.
does anyone feel like the world of writing letters is lost on a generation (or two) To be honest, the art of writing letters has been lost already. It disappeared when the cell phones became widespread - IMO, obviously. Michael ![]() |

I don't twitter either...I have not quite understood the need for it yet and in what way it is differernet from facebook etc...I am on facebook...and I use
it from time to time (lately a lot) but somehow I feel ambivalent about it:
1. I love how the internet in general connects people from all over the world and that for those "long distance relationships" of all kind it is really cool and I ove that sense of connectivity 2. On the otherhand I realise that I spent too much time in front of the computer lately...here at TX, on facebook, the Creation Con site Don't get me wrong, I do have a life outside and I am living it with people I love and try to get the most out of it ...yet I realise that I am also using the internet and all its portals sometimes as an excuse not to face my outside world, projects on the internet seam to be so much more urgent than those waiting for me in reality, for example advancing my carrer etc, go out with a friend, or just to the cinema or just walking the streets of Berlin to see what is new...And at the end of a long computer day and night sometimes, I am not neccessarely happier or more satisfied with myself. I am writing funny stuff to people I work with on facebook and when we meet at work we act more formal again...So I ask myself, why do we never make an appointment to meet in a cafe or for a party...and have real face to face conversation??? I know I am the only one who can change that...and I think one can live fine with both world, but I often wonder why I am sometimes so much braver on the internet than in real life...I should take that strengh and energy I get from being connected via the internet more into my real world. But at least I am aware of some stange mechanisms I have...so I think that I am still in control...
Boy...seams like I have many things on my mind about it - need to tell my friends at work today about it - verbally, myself, in person!

I don't Twitter, Facebook or anything like that and thought I was the only dinosaur around, LOL! My friends are desperate for me to get on FB, but
don't feel the need or have the time.
As for letter writing, it is a dying art, but I love the fact I can mail or PM people all across the world and receive replies almost instantly (and at the mo with the British postal system suffering strikes, thats a good thing).

don't Twitter, Facebook, Myspace.. find it pretty much childish, really don't care what people are doing from one day to the next and have to tell
everyone. What makes their lives so important that they have to tell the world? Just don't get it.
There's the phone, call if it's that important

In Britain it has been used to powerful effect recently to take a tabloid journalist to task for badmouthing the late Stephen Gately (of Boyzone) before he was even buried and to expose the outrageous legal 'gagging order'/injunction that a firm of libel lawyers were trying to use to silence the Guardian newspaper. As you can tell, I think that's a good thing. Plus I like following the tweets of Sirocco the Kakapo. Skraak! -- Barbara |

I use Twitter, and log on everyday. I use it mostly to follow others, I only post rarely. I love it and find it fascinating. I'm logged in right now
actually. lol

Okay, so now I've given it somewhat more of a work-out and I've gotta say Twitter has a lot of potential, but is mainly used for mindlessness. Kinda
like the internet as a whole. You could do a lot with 140 characters, one sentence can/could/would/might change someone's life. It could be an ideal tool
to just connect and inspire those around you, and be inspired by those who twitter. However there isn't that much inspiration to be gained from knowing who
had lunch with whom, still lots of potential in there.
