"I'm co-starring with Tim DeKay, and we play ex-husband and wife, so there's a bit of friction between us," O'Connor said during an Aug. 6 conference call. "We have some unresolved matters, and we try to resolve them during the course of, yes, saving humanity." O'Connor, best known for her long stint as Gabrielle on TV's Xena: Warrior Princess, said that her Monster Ark character is an archaeologist named Ava. She and her ex, Nicholas, used to go together on expeditions but headed in different directions personally and professionally. In the film, Nicholas discovers Noah's first ark, which contains the last of the primeval monsters that reigned on Earth before man. When the ark is opened the creature begins to attack again. I, like a lot of you out there, have had an aching crush on this little blonde since I first started watching the show. I remember the first episode I watched and thinking...'who is that cute little amazon?!'. Lo and behold - all these years later, I'm still hooked on ROC. I really hope this new SciFi is a better effort than A.A. was...I was disappointed by that story but I was not ever disappointed in Renee. She just makes anything she does look good. And, it helps to know she has a sense of humor and keeps on keeping on. So to speak. Oh. BTW, I'm gova. Nice to see you guys! I thought the line (in the interview) about 'reluctantly admitting' her character was a bit like Gabrielle or showed some similarities to Gabrielle, was a little odd. Does that mean that anytime Renee portrays a caring woman, someone is going to want to compare her characterization of a caring woman to Gabrielle? That's kinda shortsighted isn't it? Anyway, I'm anxious to see the movie and I absolutely cannot wait for ARK to begin. I think I'll probably still be hopelessly infatuated with the woman in 2009. cheers! g.
