I think Buffy was sometimes better written, but Xena is still more compelling viewing, due to the powerful personalities of the two main characters (not to mention their beauty) and the adventurousness of the themes the show tackled.

You never knew if it would be a comedy or dramatic episode. It was unique in that we got two musicals. And lets not forget Lucy & Renee who gave wonderful performances that made Xena & Gabrielle come alive. Thank god for whoever invented dvd's.
