I was watching The Ring trilogy (aka The Everybody-Falls-for-Gabrielle Fest), and I couldn't help but fell sorry for Brunnhilda. Sure, the fact that she wanted to dual Xena for Gabrielle's love can be seen as a tad creepy. On the other hand, that's the kind of customs that was in use in older times... Anyway... I think Gabrielle should have insisted earlier on the fact that she was spoken for, instead of letting Brunnhilda (and Beowulf, for that matter) make cutes eyes at her. (Think about that, she did the same thing to Joxer. I sense a theme here...).
In The Ring, in the scene after she was kidnapped, I found Gabrielle kind of harsh. Granted, she was mad about the said kidnapping. I understand that. But, for someone who is usually pretty forgiving, she seemed quite quick to judge Brunnhilda whom, despite her admiration for Evil Xena, wasn't half as bad. At the end of the episode, when Xena has lost her memories, she could have easily killed her, and nobody would have known. Instead, before she realised it was too late, she urged Xena to take the ring off before something bad happens.
Anybody also thinks that Gabrielle could have been nicer to the woman who was to sacrifice herself to protect her? Or do you think Gabrielle acted correctly? I'm curious to know what you think about that.
p.s. Fear not, Gabrielle fans, this is not an attack of that character. I like Gabrielle too. But I admit I may lack a bit of objectivity since I find Brunnhilda quite easy on the eyes (AND she was an interesting character too!)!
p.p.s. I hope there are not too many mistakes in my post.
It is late and English isn't my first language... Why can't you all good people read French!
