I've found the Fan-video that Olivia and Desyree made for Renee, the one that she's shown in the photos as watching. Unfortunately, Youtube has
disabled the soundtrack, which I strongly suspect was the Carpenter's "Close to You". Still, it's a very good little video, worth watching
even without sound.

warriorbarduk wrote: WarriorBard - I understand your thoughts and feelings completely! We have a tendency to feel extremely protective of Renee, don't we? The story did come across as "stalkerish", because Bidi was an extremely determined young lady who was on a mission to meet Renee and was not going to be easily deterred. Still, you should know, the translation of the blog was an extremely poor one and difficult to read. And I do have to say that while Bidi was certainly desperate to meet Renee, I don't get the feeling that Renee was at all frightened or fearing for her own safety. Actually, I got the feeling that Bidi was in the grip of such strong emotions and weeping that Renee was concerned for Bidi's well-being and safety. It seemed like Renee kept asking; "I have to leave, but are you okay? Are you going to be alright?" All celebrities have stalkers and frightening ones at that. I don't like to think about what Renee has had to deal with in the past, or what she might be having to deal with even now... But I don't think she had anything to worry about from Bidi. |

Tell Renee the Talking Xena and XOC says hi.Did more than that:
The blog said something about ROC Pictures doing business with a Brazilian "institution" which probably means "company". Based on what Reneé said about the reason she went to Rio, it's a charity (institution)
1) What gift did she give everyone? - A signed photo, a signed Bitch Slap flier (same they gave at the convention), a reproduction of one of her paintings, an original painting by her, a glass
tile with a Callisto drawing, D &G DVD (autographed). And to the 5 first people to buy the tickets she gave a photo montage poster with funny backstage
pictures of X:WP cast / crew.
2) How many people were there inside the luncheon? Including Reneé and Michele = 11

a tentative report
It seems we xenites can't get rid of the Marriotts, can we? I arrived 1 hour before, I think Olivia was already there. Like 15 to noon we were allowed to take our seats and get a start drink. That's when we got to know there were only 9 of us. We had a bit of chat and Michelle gave us instructions and not long after - there comes Reneé! She appeared intimidated at first but it only lasted a few seconds. People then stood up for hugs and pictures and more pictures! Dude, some of those girls are so young and were so nervous / starstruck. But then Reneé's magic made people calm down and a couple minutes later it was like they're welcoming some friend who was just back from a long trip. After the photo op Words Unspoken was shown on a TV set just above us, I hope Reneé wasn't upset as image and sound didn't come out so perfectly. I think people may have missed some words. While at the tables, we're told to pick each one a piece of paper with a number written on it. That would be our seat number at the lunch table (in a next room). Seats had been randomly given a number, so that's how it was settled who was going to sit next to Reneé. However, Reneé had seats at each of table's ends, on which she sat alternatively. Thus everyone could have a moment of conversation with her during the meal. Simple and well done. Tables were small round ones put together and chairs were big and clumsy, but there was this great view of the sea and the beach. And we were served by Sean Penn, or at least his lookalike, lol. Reneé didn't eat the "feijoada", which by the way wasn't exactly the real thing but a "tourists in an expensive hotel" version of it. As far as I know she didn't drink caipirinha either. Alcoholic beverage or not, none of us were fully sober. When it was my turn I could mumble some questions which Reneé patiently and graciously responded. We had fun with Reneé trying to say some words in Portuguese and being curious about the food served. There was all good laughter and cheering.

Part II :
Most of fans there had presents for Reneé, she seemed to be surprised and wanted to know more about everything she was unwrapping. Then Reneé and Michelle handed us an 'eco bag' with the gifts I listed above. According our number we're asked to choose a painting and there was time for autographs afterwards. Reneé put on a laptop previews of Ark (the ones we saw on the convention this year). I think I can't remember everything in detail, by then we had all left our food and were standing or walking around Reneé, at the end we spent more than 3 hours together. Reneé's manager made a good impression on us, to say the least, and I honestly suspect they enjoyed their time with us. Time to leave - we all signed a "We love you Reneé" banner, which I think Michelle took, and then hugs & kisses & waving - thank you Reneé, we all hope to see you again soon.

Great pictures, dsgmonteiro! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Wish I was there. Hey Old Chakram!
Great picture of Renee and you wearing your TX Badge.
Thank you for your report and pictures. Wow, only 9 fans plus Renee & her manager. It sure was an intimate luncheon, like a small family gathering. No wonder everyone had such a great time. And the way she alternated seats even though there were only 9 of you was so thoughtful. How lucky those that got to sit next to her were. How cool that the gathering lasted over 3 hours, much longer than they origianlly advertised. Renee must have been enjoying herself. I wish I could have been there to join in the fun and laughter. And it sounds just like Renee to be curious about everything. And wow, what a generous bag of gifts she gave everyone. Very nice. And thanks for explaining that her business was with a Brazilian charity institution. I wonder what it's all about. I guess we'll find out from her eventually. I hope Renee and Michelle considered the turnout and experience a success and will want to do other luncheons like this in the future.
