Ah since reading this thread I got a hankering for gingerbread cookies... SO I'm gonna get the ingredients tomorrow and bake some, Might
as well do a test run right!?!
Heres a great recipe for anyone wanting to try... I find it best to make them quite thick, as they are springy and delcious that way. I usually do a cream
cheese icing for them. Just Fab!

Degree of difficulty:
Medium
You need:
2 tablespoons golden syrup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon water
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups plain flour
Method:
Heat the golden syrup in a saucepan with the sugar, water and spices.
Mix well while the syrup melts. Bring to the boil, then remove from heat.
Add the butter, soda and baking powder to the pan. Stir until the mixture is clear and smooth.
Put the flour in a bowl and blend in the hot mixture until a dough is formed.
Roll out the dough on a floured board until it is 6mm thick.
Press out the desired shapes with biscuit cutters or cut around cardboard templates.
Make sure you press a hole through where you want a hole to hang the biscuit from.
Put the shapes on well-greased oven trays and cook in a preheated oven at 150 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Once cooled, decorate each gingerbread shape with piped coloured icing. You may even like to pipe the person's name whom you're giving the gingerbread shape to.
