Where do you go on Holiday? |
Lead | |
|
As many of you know the British are obsessed by the weather. Probably because ours is generally rubbish (although today is beautiful!). Many Brits head off
to the sun; Spain, France, Greece and Turkey are popular. I wondered where you folks who live in warmer climates go on holiday? Do you go somewhere cooler?
Do you stay within your country and explore it further? Or do you go to even hotter places? Cheers!

I live in Arizona and it's HOT here, but yet I stay and continue to toil away everyday. I love the desert but I just wish it was a tad bit cooler in the
summetime.
But I've lived in many other places, and I can say, I love Arizona the best. wlfy

i live in Austria and the weather has just been crazy the last few years!!! summers are awfully hot (the dry kinda hot YUCK!) and winters terribly cold!!!!
i hate heat but sure like to go on the beach and take a swim and stuff like that, just as long as it's not too hot. thats why the family and i have a tradition: every summer we go to the Maldives ( http://www.visitmaldives.com - it's a bit of a sucky website really! ) for at least 2 weeks to just relax! it's the best spot (it's many, many islands really) in the world to just relax and get pampered!!! this year our fav island is fully booked so we are gonna stay on Royal Island, Baa Atoll!! ( http://www.royal-island.com ). the photos arent that great - dont think any could ever do the real thing any justice! i can totally recommend it!!! it almost never rains, but when it does it pours!!! no kidding!! but only for short amounts of time. usually just 30mins or so. and the rain is frakken warm too!! temperature outside usually around 82°F and a very warm breeze is always blowing which is just wonderful coz you dont get too hot!! and the greatest thing is the water is always around 82°F too or more!!! 24/7! amazin!! best thing about the maldives!!!! you can actually stay in the water and snorkel without freezing to death!!! ...and dont get me started on the fish there! whatever you have seen on tv or in aquariums....it's nothing!! believe me!!! you dont even have to stick your head under water to see all the colorful fish! the water is so clear you can see them from above. you dont even have to go in the water - just standing on the beach is enough and you can see the fish! im so not kidding!!! it's like watching "finding nemo"! i swear! just as colorful!!! what i love is that you basically just roll outta bed onto the beach!! all you do all day long is, eat (amazing buffets!!!!), sleep, soak in the sun, swim/snorkel and get massages!!!!! and they give the best massages in the world. the girls usually are from Bali so they know what they are doing!!! you really want a dream holiday per say...go to the Maldives!!!!!!!!!!
k, i could go on and on but i wont...
i also like to go at least to one country every year where i havent been yet. this year it was Norway! OMG! mindblowingly beautiful and nice and cool! not too cold tho! i did run around with short sleeves most of the time, but long pants! you have to go there to truly understand the beauty of this country!!! we had a rental car and just drove around the whole country. for miles and miles and miles there's absolutely nothing but a street that goes just straight ahead and some bushes and thats it. oh and loads of REINDEER!!! i love them!!!!!! they run around everywhere and they are soooo effin cute!!! im hopefully gonna post pictures soon! on my myspace tho. oh and i should mention also that there are lots of fjords and super-high mountains! everything is green and colorful! the people are super friendly to!!...oh my...those landscapes...*sigh*... just ...unbelievable beautiful!! also went to the "Nordkapp" (the most northern point of Eurasia!) which was quite an experience too!!!! just to stand there. kinda freaky. anyway....totally can recommend Norway too!!!! it's light out 24/7 in summer (and i mean that! at midnight it's just as light out as around 3pm here!) and in winter it's always dark and you can see the famous Northern Lights! im so going back there in winter sometime to experience that too!!!

No freaking cursing from my niece
Well, I usually go down the shore area of New Jersey which is south of NJ. I go and spend my times with friends who are there in the summer time and do some boogie boarding in the Ocean .

I have the $, usually day trips to Seaside Heights, NJ, Island State Park is at the other end of it, and for $7.00 a car load, you can eat on the beach and the
bathing house comes with the entrance free, then afterwards we hit the board walk over at Seaside Heights, been doing this since I was 4 years old.

My favorite place to visit is Hawaii and California. California is cheaper and I visit a bit more often but it is my home town and I miss it.
Take care

My one big holiday is the Xena Convention!!
For weekend getaways I usually just go camping somewhere close to home.
If there is something in this life that you want to do, grab hold of the reins and take yourself for a ride, because if you don't you may miss out on some of the best experiences life has to offer! |

I just stay in L.A.,I'm a student so I can't afford to go anywhere. So for the summer my sis and I go around theme parks especially Disneyland and also bum around beaches.I miss those days. You have to admit living in California there are all sorts of things to do that don't require money, although with gas prices nowadays that might put a crimp in some plans. We used to cruise up and down Hollywood blvd every Friday night with the others in bumper to bumper traffic flirting with each other. I also miss being a beach bum. Take care

You're right about the gas prices. And we also like to cruise Hollywood,West Hollywood(our favourite)and the Sunset Strip, blasting out music..we listen to
The Doors and early 90's West Coast rap(the only kind we listen to).We usually end up at the Santa Monica Pier, take a bunch of quaters and play at the
arcade. You know the best place to be a beach bum is at Venice Beach, with all the hippies.
