  Katherine Fugate: I came to the show in the last season and was certainly told by my employers their vision of the show so that I can write appropriately for it. Meaning, yes, I was explicitly told by the executive producers, the writing staff and the two lead actors that the characters of Xena and Gabrielle evolved from friends to a lover relationship over the course of the series. |

In a way, this is a double shot of ROC. There will be the online series and the comic books which will most likely have her character looking like ROC. Cool that ROC is originating the role so her looks will be associated with the character. Like her looks are associated with Gabrielle. Now the question is..... What color hair will her character have or start with? We've seen many shades of blonde Renee and a couple shades of red Renee. Wonder which her new character will be. Being SciFi, I wonder if this character will have a totally different appearance.

that will be part of the job. It appears this will very much be Reneé, the actress, out there front and center. The web series could end up being developed
into a regular television series. Even if not, her working with individuals who are show runners of network television series is significant news, and could
allow Reneé greater access to being cast on network television roles. That could also lead to acting work in higher budgeted theatrical movies. Beside giving
her experience in directing and producing stories for internet distribution.
This, to me, qualifies as Reneé's biggest career break through, since Xena ended. Maybe even bigger, in the long run. Dave

Who knows. I can only go on what Renee herself says . In recent interviews and appearances, she seems to make it pretty clear she's more interested in
telling her own stories than getting her own TV series........in fact, I would be very surprised if Renee would even agree to do another television series at
this point. Guest star on other series.....sure; but the time involved in being in her own would be less time for producing her own stuff.
But like I said, I'm just going on what Renee's said in the past.......maybe she's changed her mind on some of that. Someone shuld ask her at her next appearance what her reasons are for doing this series and what she hopes to get out of it.

A TV series would supply a steady income, a new set of contacts and the ability to work on her own productions in an easier fashion. Plus, with a lot of TV
shows working on a shorter 12 - 14 episode season, it makes it easier for her to spend half a year on a TV show, the othr half with family and her own
projects. All possible.
But given I don't know what is going on in her head (hell, don't even know what's going on in mine), I have no idea. |

People's points of view and opinions can change. The Reneé of 2008 may feel one way about what she wants to do career wise and family wise. The Reneé of
2009 or 2010 can have a different sense of what she wants to do. The Reneé of 1995, when she first started working on Xena, could probably never have imagined
her current career situation!
With the internet allowing more and more opportunities to get programming out to viewers, the rules are changing. With year round programming by television networks, the number of episodes that are needed to qualify for a television season, can adjusted for any situation. Maybe only six or eight episodes can be considered a season. Just have to wait and see what happens.
