They could call it something like 'The Grand FINale', 'The Last Battleground' or 'End of an Era'.
Eventually, all good things must come to an end.

Some times I really have to beat the pessimist within me down with a stick, but I guess the 2010 con could be a fitting exit, it's the 15th anniversary
after all.

I think Xena will never be forgotten and I would understand it, when they won't do any conventions in future because, it's over since years and they
all have new jobs to do.
But I'm sure that we'll hear from them in some other way. I'm an optimist. |

Michael,
I'm playing witht that thought also. That's why we are trying to be there at the 2010 con cause we also do feel that this one might be the last ever. As there is no continuations nor movie of Xena there is a big chance 2010 is indeed the Grand Finale. Although the show has the most succes others series as BSG, Stargate etc will continue having conventions as those shows still are going on or have been split up in other side-show or even got a movie.

Oh man, do you really think 2010 will be the end of Conventions? Oh my God, this thought is so sad

Hang on in there until we get official Word from Creation | ||
|
I dont think its wise to think the worse until we get some kind of Official word from Creation as I know what I saw as i was there at the Convention and at
both of Lucy's Concerts over the weekend.
I can say that Yes Creation did indeed film Lucy's apperance at the Con on Sunday Afternoon as they had the big camera on the right side of the room filming Lucy plus Sharon had set up her mini cam in the Center between the rows of chairs So No worries there Lucy was filmed plus they shot footage of Lucy signing the autographs as well As to the concerts there was no Creation Camera present on Saturday Night to film Lucy's concert How ever the Creation camera on a Tripod was in place
on the left side of the club at the start of Lucy's concert on Sunday Night but it disapeared shortly after Lucy started Im not sure when that happened as
I wasnt paying attention
It would seem rather short sighted of Creation not to record one of Lucy's concerts in London as there is an demand for the Dvds contray to what the rumors have been saying that there isnt a demand for them and it is too expensive for Creation to Produce them and sell enough of them to make their money back. How ever I am going to mail Adam at creation tonight and ask him these questions and if any thing Adam has always been straight talker when ever I have asked him a question he has given me a honest answer if he knew the answer Yours Warriorbard |

Hey warriorbard, can you ask him about the latest Roxy shows DVD and the last Burbank con too? I really want those to be on DVD.
Oh, and did you wind up asking Lucy any of my questions at the London con?

****Hmm, you guys bring up the question I dare not think about… "Is this the first nail in the coffin?"
Another question on my mind is, "what would happen if one of them decided to stop doing conventions?"**** My guess is they would keep on living their lives, same as they do now. And so would we. Websites like this and Mary D's(just examples) are run by fans for the fans, so just because conventions stopped doesn't mean the fan run websites would stop. Plus Lucy and Renee both have their own websites to keep us updated as to what they're doing. Not to mention that until Sharon retires, she'll continue to keep us updated to what's on Lucy and Renee's plate. Sorry, but I just don't get the 'nail in the coffin' theories. No longer selling Lucy's concerts on DVD because they're not selling well has nothing to do with having the annual Xena conventions(unless the convention halls are only half full)......and even if the conventions did stop, some people seem to have the idea that it would signal the death of everything related to the show or Lucy and Renee. So where has EZ said she's going to shut down this forum if conventions stop.....same deal with Mary D. And is Lucy and Renee gonna just drop off the face of the earth if Creaton decides on no more conventions? For me, conventions don't mean much. I've never been to one and never will. They're too far away and too much money for my tastes.......and personally(I have them on DVD) I don't think all that much new information comes out at conventions. To me, showing up at a convention once a year isn't a requirement for following what's going on with Lucy and Renee. Personally, I think Sharon retiring and no longer being in communication with us would be a bigger blow than no more conventions given she keeps us updated throughout the year on everything that's going on. But even if she did, I assume that Lucy and Renee would take a more proactive stance with their own websites to keep us updated as to whats going on with them. Sorry, but I just think folks are blowing things way out of proportion. I understand folks may be upset if no more concert DVD's are available; but that has nothing to do with holding conventions. Now it's possible if they are also losing money on the convention DVD's, then they could also stop being produced; which I would hate, but i would understand.....but as long as the convention halls are full when Lucy and Renee are on stage, they won't stop the conventions. Now if they have the annual convention next year and the hall isn't even half full when Lucy and Renee are on stage, then folks can start talking about the end of the annual Xena conventions; but till that happens the conventions are safe. I mean to listen to some posts, you would think Lucy or Renee are on their death beds and being able to follow their careers is now a thing of the past. If some want to believe that, simply because they may no longer sell the concert DVD's.......then have fun. Tony

This sounds like the same 'doom and gloom' that was talked about future Xena conventions right after the series stopped airing new episodes. "Oh!
oh! Woes are we! No more conventions because Lucy, Reneé and the rest of the actors won't want to appear for a show no longer in production!"
There will always be conventions, whether they be stand alone Xena conventions, or otherwise. Where there's a buck to be made, some one will try to make it! Dave

I could make a case for Lucy and Renee continuing to go to conventions indefinitely because they get something
out of it, too.
And since Celebrity Duets Lucy really seems present to what Xena Fans can offer. Would she have stayed on Duets so long if it wasn't for Xena fans? Before Duets she once said she came to conventions because
we keep coming back, but after it's different now.
For example, on the Roxy '07 dvd Lucy asks the crowd to do a war cry when she raises her little finger. The crowd follows exactly as she wants, then she turns to the producers in the crowd and says, "Try following that producers. They paid to be here." Then this year's Roxy concert initiated the steps leading to her the role in Bedtime Stories.
Lucy has it down to a science; how to give us what we want and to ask for what she wants. When she was preparing for the first concert she said. "They realize I'm not Fleetwood Mac; they aren't really coming
to hear the music. They are coming to have an evening of fun and frivolity with their favorite ex-warrior
princess." Yess! How did she know? Then she can turn around and rally me
to watch a show I don't like, Dancing with the Stars, to vote for a contestant I don't really know, Marissa; just because she asked. It's pretty amazing. Rumor has it that Marissa should've been voted out a few
weeks ago.
As hard as it is to survive in that industry, as long as we provide this kind of value to them I'd hope Davesnothome is right and they wouldn't just let it go. |
