I prefer jam to jelly, with the exception of non-seedless berry preserves (I've never liked the little woody seeds).

Have to join into this because fruit spreads, be they jam, jelly, preserves or marmalades are one of my favorite food groups. In fact, I often have to take the
"no jelly" oath before I go to a farmer's market or speciality store or else I end up with a whole bag full to bring home.
I like jellies made with tropical fruits -- mango, papaya, guava. I used to buy GOYA brand at a liquor store in Ann Arbor (go figure, it makes not sense) but they no longer carry them. Loved them because they were very tasty and not very expensive. Kern's Farms at the A2 Farmer's Market has a wide variety of fruit spreads and since you get a discount the more you buy, I often try a lot of different flavors. Friends often give me spreads for gifts. Have to check Hot Pepper Jelly because sometimes it is made with green peppers which don't digest well. Right now in my refrigerator I have sour cherry preserves (gift), mango lemon jelly (Kern's), yellow tomato jelly (Columbus Farmer's Market) and something called Autumberry Jam (East Lansing FM) which is high in nutrition but a bit to intense for me. I eat peanutbutter and jelly (jam or preserves) on toast almost every day for lunch. Except this week, when I eat watercress sandwiches. |

I love raspberry jam! Sometimes I eat half a glass straight, without bread. So good...

I like jam, but i much prefer marmalade. Anything made by Tiptree's is great.
Thanks for clearing up a misconception, I always thought jam=jelly in America, like tap=faucet. Didn't realise you had both. Dolly: Christine, did you put Viagra in my tea? So, I've just taken a very powerful drug designed to combat male impotence is that the situation? What will it do to a woman? Where will it go? What will happen when it gets down there and finds there's nothing to pump up? It'll be like a Range Rover going top speed into a cul-de-sac. It'll bounce back and head straight for my heart, won't it? What else will I get; nose hair? Am I going to start driving with one elbow out of the window? Leaving the seat up? (dinnerladies) |
