This episode is full of quirky lines and some subtext. Exhibit A: Xena is in the dungeon trying to get the black wolf out. Gabrielle and Salmoneus get sent there. How? By throwing tomatoes at the guards. Gabrielle's quote to Salmoneous: *"You know, you wouldn't be in here in the first place if you'd kept your hands off my tomatoes". The look on Xena's face is so priceless! (If looks could kill, Salmoneous would be dead!). Other quotes: Gabrielle: Excuse me...have you seen Xena? She's tall...she's beautiful...piercing, blue eyes...swings a mean right hook.* the famous "I have many skills" is said for the first time in this episode. As an afterthought, do you think Flora was a love interest for Xena in the past? The way they talk with each other, it seems like more than childhood friends. Maybe I'm just looking into things far too much. "If only you could see the you that is a part of me, maybe you could see inside yourself." - Casey Check out my Xena vids on youtube!

I never saw Flora as a love interest I think mostly because I thought she was just a little kid while Xena was probably a teenager but I could be wrong. Tobias

She's your friend? You have a friend?" ... Could also be interpreted differently because of how XWP used the word 'friend' later on. The Black Wolf is generally overlooked, which I think is a pity because I find it to be a nice little early episode. Interestingly, Emma Turner, who played Flora appears to have left acting soon after she made this episode. For the Xentrics, this is also the episode where Xena is dark, dangerous and soaking wet after escaping the water pit in the dungeon There's also the classic blooper where Kevin Wilson (Xerxes), gives Lucy an almighty whack on the back of her head with her sword as he pulls it from its scabbard. It's definitely one of my fave season one eps. For the Xentrics, this is also the episode where Xena is dark, dangerous and soaking wet after escaping the water pit in the dungeon Yes I know! That's why it's one of my fave season one eps. My finger is hovering over the rewind button during that scene. Ok I do like other stuff beside that. Gabrielle's absolutely hilarious, and Salmoneous as well. And omg, I'm just thinking of that scene when Xena talks to Flora...omx she looks stunning!! Michael, I really LOVE your sig!! And the tomatoes gag always makes me laugh! Xena was not impressed at Sal at that point! Smile and the world smiles with you! Dolly: Christine, did you put Viagra in my tea? So, I've just taken a very powerful drug designed to combat male impotence is that the situation? What will it do to a woman? Where will it go? What will happen when it gets down there and finds there's nothing to pump up? It'll be like a Range Rover going top speed into a cul-de-sac. It'll bounce back and head straight for my heart, won't it? What else will I get; nose hair? Am I going to start driving with one elbow out of the window? Leaving the seat up? (dinnerladies)

It´s subtext heavy and one of the best from S1 in my opinion. Personally, it was actually after watching this episode that I seriously started questioning my sexuality...
