Yeah, it was greatsee her at the beginning of the episode. One of these days, she needs to play the cop or investigator, instead of the witness. Yeah gabsfan, it would be great "Idol" picked up strength in the 9 o'clock hour, with a 7.0/17, 18.0 million viewers overall. "Criminal Minds" (3.3/8, 13.1 million viewers overall) was on par with its post-strike debut from a week ago while ABC's "Supernanny" (2.2/5, 5.7 million viewers overall) performed better than NBC's repeat of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.5/4, 5.1 million viewers overall). http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117983828.html?categoryid=14&cs=1 13.1 million viewers? I guess Reneé did all right, and the exposure can't hurt, but 1) Her scenes were so brief I literally said out loud "That's it? Did we just talk about this for weeks and we got less than 4 minutes?" and 2) The things they had her do didn't even 'dip a toe' into her ability. This is the kind of stuff Reneé can do in her sleep, and... honestly, any actress could have done those scenes. I know I'm always expecting too much, and I know we can't always get what we like, but this really came up short in my book. ---- Posted by gabsfan: You know, it just occurred to me. In both of the two most recent projects we've seen her in, Boogeyman 2 and Criminal Minds, she plays a character that sees dead people. Hmmm, I wonder what's in store when we see Genesis Code. Just to clarify: I'm not criticizing Reneé's performance. What I meant was that IMO these scenes weren't 'enough' for her. We all know she's capable of much more than what she was showing here. I'm not asking for much - maybe another 10-20-45 minutes And another thing (yes, I'm grumpy today) - it's obviously fantastic she's thought of so highly that the Criminal Minds-PTB actively search for a part for her, but why couldn't it for once have been a sassy, classy dame, dang it? I thought she did a wonderful job, but of course, even if 3 / 4 of the programme time had been specifically allotted to her it STILL wouldn't have been enough. It's the nature of these shows that the sinner is given more air time than those sinned against, so it came as no great surprise that Renee's appearance was fairly brief after I found out she was a victim. It would have been nice if they'd gone back to the character at the end though, just to tie things up. Still...first on screen...cool!!! We need more ROC!! They kept offering her a chance to be on the show and then..what ? I really think she could have phoned in that performance.

(1) When you have been out of the business (TV series) for seven years you can't be too damn picky when jobs are offered. I mean in the TV production business that's a LONG BLOODY TIME and while you and I know she is a great actor, there are a lot of people in the industry that don't even know who she is! (2) Criminal Minds " A Higher Power" is a CBS Paramount Network TV series and among other people it had Deborah Spera as an Executive Producer. Deborah Spera is also Executive Producer of Army Wives and a friend of Katherine Fugate. In addition she is the Mark Gordon Company's President of Production. Mark Gordon made his name with "Saving Private Ryan" and "The Day After Tomorrow". That means Deb Spera has heavy influence on the selection of actors for shows such as; Criminal Minds, Army Wives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Reaper to mention just a few and Ren needed "on set" exposure to their production staff. The Mark Gordon Co. has tapped former Showtime exec Jae Kim as their director of development for TV. Kim will supervise production and development for the TV division, reporting to Deborah Spera. This move reunites Kiln with Spera, Iris former boss at Showtime, who left the network in 2004 to run Gordon's television production. Before joining MG Spera was President of Production for Lifetime TV. Between Gordon, Spera and Kilm you have one of the most powerful threesomes in todays TV production. Okay gang, what am I saying? I'm saying that Ren is now rubbing shoulders with some very heavy hitters in today's TV industry and the exposure in Criminal Minds was priceless. Where it will take her is anyone's guess but you have to remember, when Renee' sets her mind to do something she very rarely fails.
