Thank you so much for the link. Glad to see Ren picking up pace with Katherine and being so bold
![]() ![]() Katherine Fugate: I came to the show in the last season and was certainly told by my employers their vision of the show so that I can write appropriately for it. Meaning, yes, I was explicitly told by the executive producers, the writing staff and the two lead actors that the characters of Xena and Gabrielle evolved from friends to a lover relationship over the course of the series. |

Quote from the interview:
"Then there's one that played to kids, or that played to 9-17-year-olds. And they didn't understand the subtext, nor did they get it.Ex-sqweeze me? I understand it alright Great interview, thanks for the link

Ex-sqweeze me? I understand it alright I think he's talking about young boys. I remember him saying once that he had met a boy whose big hero on the show was Joxer, and that he wasn't really into X&G at all. Of course, as young boys become teenagers their priorities change, and I'm quite sure most 14-15-16-year old boys have noticed Lucy and Reneé.

The remark about the 9-17 struck me as funny as well. I have a 12 year old niece that watches it, and even without me saying anything she can tell you (as she
calls it) when the "went gay." She picked up on it quick.
