From what you said, it sounds to me like she got serious while trying to think of what to write. I don't think she'd feel weird signing that photo since she thought that whole thing was very funny when she did it.

It has definitely improved over the years but the fan thing still weirds me out a bit and...

That's funny. What was Renée's reaction to her assistant saying it looked hideous?

Renee laughed during the first part of the exchange, but then she got serious and kept looking at the photo. I am not sure if she was trying to think of something witty to say on it or if she was unhappy to have to sign that photo.

You guys are right, according to babynames.com, Renée means "reborn".

Unfortunately, when that site listed famous Renées, they had Renée Estevez (Sheen) who I assume is Martin Sheen's wife or daughter but not Renée O'Connor.

Yeah it is originally a French name.

and from what i gather from unsuccessful French courses, 'née' is a feminine form of 'né' which comes from 'naitre' that means 'born'
so... i take it Renée means reborn (?)

I always wondered about the accent she put on Renee. I hadn't heard it mentioned before this thread.

What's the reason for the accent, what I mean is, the name isn't really said differently is it? If it is I probably would need it said to me, I can't figure how you put an accent on an 'e'. I had a schoolmate with that name but don't think she wrote it with an accent on it, so the accent thing was new to me.

I remember that I read something about the reason of Renee put the accent on the last "E" instead to the first in Ausxips, but I can't find anymore...

In Nashville she told us that she just gets lazy so the accent ends up anywhere. I think it is in the FAQ on Renee that mentions the accent going over the last "e." That was actually one of the things I told...
