Sorbo did quite well. He played a sheriff turned alcoholic after accidentally killing his wife while he was frustrating a bank robber. He didn't exaggerate it, and his straightening up was neither rushed nor tough to believe.

He had a good cast to work with, especially Lance Henriksen who played a gambler/killer who was seeking his runaway wife-who of course becomes the ex-sheriff's new love.
